Sixth Grade

Hello! My name is Diane Hastings.

This will be my third year teaching at Charleston Development Academy, and I feel very fortunate to be a part of the CDA family. For school year 2016-17, I will be the grade six homeroom teacher along with teaching science for grades 6, 7, and 8. I hope to instill my love for science into each of my CDA students through scientific inquiry and plenty of hands-on learning.
Originally from Connecticut, I relocated to South Carolina graduating from the College of Charleston in 1992 where I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology. I also attended the University of Charleston, SC earning a Master of Arts in Teaching.
My teaching experience spans over eleven years. During this time, I was able to live and work in Germany, Italy, the Pacific Northwest, and many other locations across the United States. My experience ranges from Kindergarten to High School with a strong emphasis on Middle School mathematics and science as well as study skills, visualization, and concept formation.

Should you have any questions throughout the school year, please do not hesitate to contact me at
